On September 21 , the Washington Wizards officially announced that the team has signed a two-way contract with guard Shareef Cooper , which means that the Wizards' last two-way roster spot this season has been determined.

Cooper , 24, was selected by the Atlanta Hawks with the 48th pick in the 2021 NBA Draft . He subsequently played three seasons in the G League before moving overseas last season. The 1.85- meter - tall point guard , known for his speed and playmaking, played for the Cleveland Charge in the 2023-24 season , averaging 19.3 points and 8 assists per game while shooting 37.2% from three-point range , demonstrating a versatile offensive threat and perimeter prowess.

With the addition of Cooper , he will join Tristan Vucevic and Jameel Watkins as the Wizards' three two-way players this season.

The Wizards also announced the signings of Keshon Gilbert and Jonathan Pierre , both of whom joined the team on Exhibit-10 contracts. Both young players previously played in the Wizards Summer League and will continue to compete for opportunities in training camp, which officially opens on September 29th .

For the Wizards, who are in the process of rebuilding, introducing a point guard like Cooper will not only provide depth for the team's backcourt, but may also become an important rotation for the second lineup in the regular season.
