Werder Bremen striker David Kovnatzky has confirmed he will join 2. Bundesliga club Hertha Berlin on a one-year loan before heading to a training camp in Zillertal. Professional football director Peter Niemeyer confirmed this on Monday.

Peter Niemeyer said: "The loan of David Kovnatzky will allow him to get more playing time at Hertha Berlin in the upcoming 2. Bundesliga season."

"Although this was a difficult decision for us, it was the right choice for him. We will continue to monitor his development at Hertha Berlin and wish him every success there."

The 28-year-old David Kovnatzky joined Werder Bremen from Fortuna Düsseldorf in 2023. He then played 22 games for the team and was loaned back to his old club Fortuna last season, where he played 29 times and scored 13 goals.
